Postdoctoral Research Positions
______________________________________________
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for a postdoctoral research position in the Rimer group.
We are looking for well-qualified Ph.D. researchers to join our group. Prior experience in materials
synthesis and characterization is recommended, although candidates with other skill sets (e.g. molecular
modeling, synthetic chemistry, etc.) are encouraged to apply. A degree in chemical engineering is not
a pre-requisite for consideration. Highly motivated candidates with degrees in chemistry, materials
science, and other related engineering and the natural science fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
Please send your curriculum vitae and any questions to Dr. Rimer at jrimer@central.uh.edu.

Doctoral Research Openings
__________________________________________________________________________________
The Rimer group is anticipating openings for Ph.D. candidates in the Fall semester. Graduate students that have been accepted to the University of Houston and successfully meet the requirements established by the Department of Chemical Engineering Graduate Program are eligible to apply for a research position. Previous experience in materials synthesis and characterization is beneficial, but not necessary.
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Rimer and his students with questions about our research. More general questions of graduate admissions should be directed to staff in the
University of Houston Graduate Admissions Office.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities
_________________________________________________________________________________
The Rimer group is seeking highly motivated undergraduate students to work alongside doctoral and postdoctoral researchers on cutting-edge technologies and materials that are relevant to many industrial applications. Projects are designed to expose students to a broad range of materials synthesis and characterization techniques. Undergraduate students are expected to participate in group meetings, present their research at departmental symposia, and work on a novel research topic that can produce a publication in a scientific journal.
Interested UH students should complete the following application and email the document to Dr. Rimer
at jrimer@central.uh.edu. International and non-UH students should consider applying for the
UH NSF REU program (see link below):
Undergraduate Research Application
It is also recommended that interested students become familiar with programs at the University of Houston that promote undergraduate research and provide financial awards. Links to several of these websites are listed below:
Provosts Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program (PURS)
Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP)
Cullen Engineering Summer NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
For questions about these programs contact the UH Office of Undergraduate Research.
